No Goals Against…

Although we failed to win on Saturday against VCD Athletic in the Ryman League Division One North the 0-0 draw, apart from a useful point, was our fifth match in a row without conceding.  Naturally the question everyone has asked me is when did the club last achieve five in a row without conceding.  So the best I can do goes back to the 2008/09 season when we were looking to get promoted to the Premier.   We achieved this by beating Concord Rangers in the play off final at Capershotts.  For those there truly a great day to remember.  Sadly for me I wasn’t!    The run began on 20th September away at Northwood when we won 2-0.  The same score against Cheshunt a week later was followed by a 1-0 win over old rivals Concord  Rangers.  We then had a 0-0 drsaw at Aveley and Thamesmead were defeated 3-0 to complete the nap.  The run came to an end though on Tuesday 14th October 2008 when we conceded 2 goals to draw 2-2 at Potters Bar Town.  So there you have it!  can we write some more history on Saturday at Dereham, who knows?
